NEDA Region VII Participates in the 2021 Nutrition Month Launching Activity

The 2021 Nutrition Month (NM) celebration kicked off last July 01 with the theme, “Malnutrisyon patuloy na labanan, First 1000 days tutukan!” The National Nutrition Council 7 (NNC 7) launched the celebration virtually and this was broadcasted live via the NNC-7 Facebook page.

Among the highlights of the launching activity were the messages given by the Local Chief Executives of Larena (Siquijor), Tagbilaran City (Bohol), Borbon (Cebu) and Barangay Sawang (Maria, Siquijor). They expressed their commitment to support proper nutrition and implement activities to promote the first 1000 days intervention. Local governments play an important role in improving the nutritional status of the children in their respective territorial jurisdictions.

The social media campaign activities for this year which include: Tiktok Dance Challenge; Nutri-Jingle Contest; Docu-Nanay; LCE Videos; and the Comple Nutri Tips were also highlighted. These activities likewise aim to promote awareness of the first 1000 days.

Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Dr. Parolita Mission, greeted and acknowledged the active participation of everyone. She emphasized the 2021 NM campaign objectives of  1.) EDUCATE,  so we can have an increased understanding of the first 1000 days of life strategy; 2.) ENCOURAGE, to facilitate collaboration among various stakeholders for scaled up intervention to fight malnutrition; and 3) ENGAGE, to generate interactions among stakeholders about nutrition. Dr. Jonathan Neil V. Erasmo, on behalf of Dr. Jaime Bernadas of DOH 7, delivered the closing remarks. He extended his thanks to all who participated and made the launching activity a success.
