NEDA 7 briefs Singapore delegates on Cebu opportunities

Regional Director Efren Carreon leads NEDA 7 ManCom officials in briefing representatives of Enterprise Singapore and select Singapore-based companies on possible opportunities in Cebu last 23 July 2018 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City.

NEDA Regional Office (NRO) 7 Regional Director Efren Carreon and NEDA 7 ManCom officials briefed representatives from Enterprise Singapore and select Singapore-based companies on possible opportunities in Central Visayas.

The group from Enterprise Singapore, led by Southeast Asia Deputy Director Wu Hongyi, were in Cebu as part of its mandate to seek business opportunities and make partnerships overseas. Representatives from companies engaged in water and energy solutions were also present during the briefing last 23 July 2018 at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

Enterprise Singapore is a government agency under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry tasked to champion the development of Singapore companies through capability development, innovation and internationalization, in partnership with overseas companies.

“We believe that infrastructure is key to development in the Philippines that is why we want to understand a bit more of the plans in Cebu. We want to discuss further what business opportunities to explore,” said Wu.

RD Carreon gave the group an overview of the Regional Development Council and the Regional Development Plan, and what major projects are being implemented in and planned for Central Visayas.

He also presented salient development opportunities in Cebu and the potential challenges to these.

After the briefing, there was an interaction with some members of the group. They inquired about the process of getting into a joint venture with Philippine companies, mechanisms for a public-private partnership, and how NEDA can help them for certain projects.
