RDC 7 forms Committee on Culture, Values and Creative Industries

ALL FOR CULTURE AND ARTS. The RDC 7 Special Committee on Culture, Values, and Creative Industries, led by NRO 7 Regional Director Efren Carreon (4th from left) during its first meeting last 22 May 2018.

The Regional Development Council in Central Visayas (RDC VII) created the Committee on Culture, Values and Creative Industries (CVCI) by virtue of RDC Resolution No. 9 (s. 2018). It was formed to collaborate with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in implementing strategies, programs and projects that will promote Philippine values and culture including the region’s creative industries, as outlined in the Philippine and Regional Development Plans.

The RDC Special CVCI conducted its organizational meeting on May 22 at Cebu Normal University in Cebu City.

RDC VII Vice Chairman and Regional Director Efren Carreon of the NEDA Regional Office in Central Visayas (NRO VII) convened the meeting as interim chair, in coordination with the NCCA represented by Ms. Adelina Suemith.

Suemith expressed her appreciation to RDC VII, for being one with the NCCA in its strong advocacy not only for culture and values but also for creative industries.

The CVCI has lined up activities starting with the conduct of the following: (a) orientation, training and immersion for culture mapping; (b) research conference on culture studies; and (c) Cebu Design Week’ to showcase the creative industries’ initiatives of mixing culture and art.
