The NEDA Regional Office in Central Visayas participated in a consultative forum on linking education and economic development last May 3 at the DepEd Ecotech Center, Cebu City.
At the forum, NEDA 7 Regional Director Efren B. Carreon presented the current economic situation in Central Visayas and the challenge of employment in a growing economy, linking education, and economic development.
The forum was co-organized by NEDA 7 together with the Action for Economic Reforms, Department of Education VII, and Coalition for Better Education, with support from the Australian Embassy and the Asia Foundation.
The forum was an inception meeting for the drafting of the implementing rules and regulations of the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) Republic Act 10968, a platform for institutionalizing greater coordination and collaboration of government, industry and education. The PQF is a system where qualifications attained through education, training, work and other learnings which are recognized and assigned with specific qualification levels described in terms of knowledge, skills and value, can facilitate the matching of education and skills to job requirements and allow international comparability.
