USEC. Adoracion M. Navarro of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) together with the NEDA-7 officials was toured last January 22, 2017 by Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VII (DSWD-7) and UN World Food Programme (WFP) staff in the Visayas Disaster Response Center (VDRC), a facility for packing and storage of relief goods. The Center was made possible through the collaboration between DSWD and U.N WFP and funding from Australian and United Kingdom governments.
It was a project that emanated from the lessons learned from typhoon Yolanda. It enhanced the capacity of the Philippine government in addressing humanitarian assistance during emergency responses. Located in Brgy. Casuntingan, Mandaue City, the facility is designed to produce 50,000 family food packs a day.
