BACKGROUND

The Cebu Business Club (CBC), in a position paper submitted has recommended the establishment of a Council spearheaded by the RDC Infrastructure Committee to focus on energy options consisting of realistically available renewable or environmentally friendly energy sources. During the RDC - Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) meeting on 5 March 2010, aware of the looming power crisis inthe country saw the need to create a body to take charge of monitoring the power situation and outlook of the region, agreed to recommend to the RDC the creation of a Sub-Committee on Power under the RDC -IDC. The RDC Full Council in its meeting on 23 March 2010 passed the RDC Resolution No. 1 (s.2010) approving the creation of the said sub-committee.

 

FUNCTIONS

1. Maintain a Visayas power situation monitoring system;

2. Conduct regular consultation and dialogue with various stakeholders on energy-related matters; and

3. Monitor and assess the implementation of the Philippine Energy Plan, particularly in the Visayas Grid.
