NEDA DG briefs Cebu bizmen on RP dev't agenda

DG Cayetano W. Paderanga, Jr. briefed last September 15, the business leaders and government officials of Central Visayas on the government's economic agenda during the Regional Economic Managers' Briefing and Dialogue with President Benigno S. Aquino III held at the Marriott Hotel in Cebu City.

DG Paderanga explained the Administration's national development objectives of achieving inclusive growth, creating employment opportunities, and reducing poverty. He also elucidated on the strategies designed to attain these development objectives, namely: the attainment of sustained and high economic growth that provides productive employment opportunities; the equalization of access to development opportunities; and the implementation of social safety nets.

Likewise, DG Paderanga presented the administration's public-private partnership (PPP) development strategies, including the issuance of Executive Order No. 8, s. 2010 that reorganized and renamed the BOT Center to PPP Center of the Philippines, and mandated its attachment to NEDA. He also informed the business leaders that 10 infrastructure projects, with estimated investment requirement of PhP 127.8 billion, have been shortlisted for PPP implementation in 2011. For 2012 and beyond, 71 projects, with a total estimated investment requirement of PhP 739.78 billion, have been included in the long list of PPP projects.
