Floods prevention in RDC agenda
Upon motion of PSR Emmanuel Rabacal, t he RDC re-endorsed RDC Resolution No. 41 and 42 S. of 2009 in reaction to the flashfloods that have hit the country, including Cebu City and Mandaue City last January 25. RDC Res No.41 had requested DENR7-EMB and the LGUs to assess, clean up and rehabilitate all rivers in the region as part of disaster prevention. RDC reiterated its request in Res. No. 42 for the DA7 to establish rain gauges in the provincial/municipal nurseries and in the DA research stations. It decided to include temperature gauges as well in the request, upon suggestion of PSR Fr. Margarito Alingasa, SVD.
Cebu City representative Paul Hubahib informed the RDC that the Cebu City Mayor and the Cebu Provincial Governor have requested Local Chief Executives especially in the Metro Cebu area to jointly address the flooding problem. Meetings are set for February 4 and February 9 for this purpose, and will involve the Metro Cebu Development Council.
